~ Profiles ~ Dan Schaaf
Dan's main musical interest is with the interplay
between narrative art and music, between words and
melody, images and sound, the dramatic and the lyrical,
the quantifiable and mystery, the letter and the spirit.
His theater pieces have been performed in Indianapolis,
Dallas and Chicago, and he was most recently the house
composer for Chesterton Indiana's 4th Street Theater.
Now he independently produces his shows. Sudden Productions Sudden Productions is the umbrella name for Dan
Schaaf's theater & film projects which include

Widely misunderstood because of it's free mix of social satire, fantasy/science fiction, comedy and political commentary, it is basically a story about marital jealousy and escapism. Dan has added a sound track, sound effects and songs along with live actors speaking the lines of the otherwise silent screen actors. Productions Tickets $10/ $8 students and Seniors Astonishing avant-garde Soviet Film, 1929, the year Stalin began his first 5-Year Plan and purges. Astonishing in part because such a film was made in Soviet Union at that time. It follows ordinary people thru the cycle of a day, dawn to dusk. Dan Schaaf's interest in the relationship between image and music is explored here: how much control sound and especially music have over the perception of moving images. Like 'Aelita', Stalin banned the film.
